Graduated from Janis Rozentāls Riga Secondary School of Art (1977) and the Department of Painting of the Art Academy of Latvia (1984). Worked as teacher in Mērsrags Secondary School (1984-1986), is a teacher of visual art in art schools in Riga. Paints figural compositions, still lifes, landscapes. His painting is characterised by stylistic traces of expressionism and cubism, his colour palette – intense, saturated and decorative, he is interested in textures and rhythms of lines, uses mixed techniques. Member of the Artists Union of Latvia (1985). His works have been exhibited in Sweden, Germany, France, Australia, Israel, Spain.
