The Valdgale-Roja narrow-gauge railway station on Stacijas-Street 6 was opened in 1930 and operated until the early 1960s. The freight train primarily transported timber and also delivered newspapers and goods to local stores. It took about two hours to travel from Valdemārpils to Talsi by train. Many people used the train as a means of transportation – they could go to Talsi in the morning and return home around six in the evening. While there was a maternity ward in Talsi, newborns were also transported from Talsi to Valdemārpils by train. The train movement was discontinued, and the tracks were dismantled, but the building was preserved. At one point, the station building housed the city museum created by the historian Ēriks Prokopovičs, and later on, some of the exhibits became part of the collection of the Talsi Museum. The building has retained its original appearance. Today, it is an apartment building and still serves the needs of local residents.
