The former Cunces-Street was renamed Krišjāņis Valdemārs-Street at one point. Parents of the most notable supporter of the Young Latvian movement lived there and built their family home. Krišjānis Valdemārs himself lived in this building for only a short time, as he spent most of his days at his school, where he later worked as a teacher. The original wooden house of Valdemārs family no longer exists, but in the yard, you can still see the lime tree planted at the time. Initially, there were reportedly two lime trees, but during a storm in 2005, one of the trees was toppled. On that night, a historic symbol of resistance, the so-called ‘Pine of Punishment’, was also broken by the storm. The lime tree can be seen when passing through the small gardens of the local residents.
